Sean “Diddy” Combs Slams 50 Cent, Netflix’s “Shameful Hit Piece” | E! News

Shawn Diddy Combmes has some beef with 50 Cent. Amid his legal troubles, Combmes has taken aim at the rapper as well as Netflix for the 50cent produced documentary Shawn Combmes the Reckoning. A spokesperson for Combmes said in a December 1st statement to Variety after Good Morning America aired a teaser. Netflix’s so-called documentary is a shameful hit piece. Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release. As Netflix and CEO Ted Serendos know, Mr. Combmes has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story in his own way. It was fundamentally unfair and illegal for Netflix to misappropriate that work. The statement continued, “Netflix is plainly desperate to sensationalize every minute of Mr. Comb’s life without regard for the truth in order to capitalize on a never-ending media frenzy. If Netflix cared about truth or about Mr. Comb’s legal rights. It would not be ripping private footage out of context, including conversations with his lawyers that were never intended for public viewing. No rights in that material were ever transferred to Netflix or any third party. However, the team behind the documentary slams the notion that they are using stolen footage with director Alexandria Stapleton telling Variety, “It came to us. We obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights. We moved heaven and earth to keep the filmmaker’s identity confidential. Stapleton adds, “One thing about Shawn Combmes is that he’s always filming himself, and it’s been an obsession throughout the decades. We also reached out to Shawn Combs legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back.” Beyond just the footage, Comb spokesperson also took aim at 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson. The statement read, “It is equally staggering that Netflix handed creative control to Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, a longtime adversary with a personal vendetta who has spent too much time slandering Mr. Combmes.” The statement concluded, “Beyond the legal issues, this is a personal breach of trust. Mr. Combmes has long respected Netflix CEO Ted Serendos and admired the legacy of music exec Clarence Ivant. For Netflix to give his life story to someone who has publicly attacked him for decades feels like an unnecessary and deeply personal affront. At minimum, he expected fairness from people he respected. Enus has reached out to a rep for Combmes as well as Netflix and 50 Cent for comment, but has not heard back. Back in July, Combmes was convicted on two prostitution related offenses, but acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges in his sex trafficking case, and in October was sentenced to 50 months in prison, plus 5 years of supervised release and a fine of $500,000. Sean “Diddy” Combs’ spokesperson slammed the Netflix documentary ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning,’ claiming the 50 Cent-produced special uses “stolen footage” and is a “personal breach of trust.”

A Netflix spokesperson later said the claims made about the doc are “false.”

“The project has no ties to any past conversations between Sean Combs and Netflix,” read the statement to E! News. “The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest were legally obtained. This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution. Curtis Jackson is an executive producer but does not have creative control. No one was paid to participate.”

    1. Watching the documentary & this man is a monster….he was everything I knew he was, I never liked or cared for Sean combs, obsessed over tupac & was hugely responsible for what happened to PAC, rest in peace to TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR, I'm a huge fan forever & ever, justice for tupac always🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    2. Only thing is he implicated the jurors were paid off and repeated the same thing the PR internet people were told to say, doubt it will get us a new trial though. Of course his attorney's are concerned that info will be public.

    3. .NETFLIX — 50 Cent did an incredible job bringing important truths to light in this documentary. The behavior highlighted in the film is disturbing, and I won’t be supporting anything associated with him if he ever returns to the public eye. It feels like the jury was STAR struck and didn’t hold firm to the people or their job . Regardless, this documentary is powerful, well-executed, and worth watching. Well done to 50 and his team!
