Director ‘Home Alone” Explains the Stunt #behindthescenes

    This particular stunt, the nail just basically is a rubber nail that lowers when his foot goes onto it. It looks as if he’s in tremendous pain. There was a mirror in the camera. It actually made the flame look as if it was a frying gel. This is Troy the stunt man. I still have this lovely prop of this fake head. Dan is wearing huge rubber feet. Now, here he’s not wearing rubber feet. He insisted on stepping on these. Granted, they were a candy glass, but still candy glass has the ability to cut your feet and hurt. I said, “We have to put a real spider on your face.” He said, “I’m not going to do that.” Finally, I begged him. I said, “Well, do one take. Put the spider on your face.” The spider trainer said, “Well, you put the spider on his face, but if he actually screams, the spider could freak out and attack it.” That did not make Dan feel any more comfortable. So, we did one take and it’s a silent scream. He did not utter a word. And that screen is ADR that we added
