Northern Irish Bake Off favourite Mark Lutton has spoken out after Prince Harry recreated his famous awkward moment with presenter Alison Hammond.
The Portadown man, who appeared on The Great British Bake Off in 2020, became an unexpected viral star when a clip of Hammond struggling to understand his Northern Irish accent spread across social media.
The light-hearted exchange has continued to resurface online in the years since his time on the show.
Now it has caught the attention of the Duke of Sussex. Appearing on a US late-night talk show, Prince Harry lip-synced along to the original footage, prompting a mixed reaction from viewers.
While some found the royal’s impression amusing, others took to social media to brand the moment “cringeworthy”.
Lutton, who is now living in Liverpool, took the renewed attention in good humour. “Never did I think my mispronunciation would have such an impact,” he said.
He later reposted the clip on his own Instagram account, joking: “Breaking my Instagram silence to share this gem!”
