Quentin Tarantino Says Paul Dano Is “Weakest Male Actor in SAG” | E! News

Quinton Tarantino isn’t holding back his opinions on talent in Hollywood. During the December 2nd episode of the Brett Eastston Ellis podcast, the award-winning filmmaker shares some harsh criticism for actor Paul Do’s role in the film There Will Be Blood. Saying the movie would stand a better chance if it didn’t have a big giant flaw in it, and the flaw is Paul Do. I’m not saying he’s giving a terrible performance. I’m saying he’s giving a non- entity performance. I don’t care for him. The 62-year-old then explains why he felt Paul wasn’t the right fit for the 2007 Western period drama also starring Daniel D Lewis, saying, “Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, and it’s also so drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy.” Daniel D. Lewis shows that he doesn’t need a strong foil in the movie. And when questioned on if Daniel’s acting may just overshadow whomever he’s working with, Quinton replies, “So, you put him with the weakest male actor in SAG, the limpest in the world?” Enews has reached out to Paul’s rep regarding Quinton’s comments, but hasn’t yet heard back. 1. Tarantino is full of frustration, he thinks other directors need to ask his opinion before hiring their actors. This is not the first time he shows his true color.

    2. Dano was perfectly cast in There Will Be Blood.
I've seen Paul in many films.
      He's a terrific actor.
Sorry, Quentin. You don't have the final say, here. Despite what your ego is telling you, it's a matter of opinion not fact, if Paul Dano was effective in TWBB or not. 😊

    3. Absolutely Love Paul Dano and have followed his career. Not one single role has been uninteresting or weak. I can't say the same for the tired style of Tarantino.

    4. Tarantino is an self-admitted "pastiche director", many of the scenes and plots of his films heavily ripped off from older classic cult films. The sheep in the cinema seats don't know it but cinema buffs do. Search "movies Tarintino ripped off on Google". Dano is a great actor and should not listen to Quentitn's rants. Tarintino is set to make his last movie soon. I guess he is tired of doing pastiche work, that must be exhausting.

    5. will tarantino movies are usually crude and over hyped…. and they are silly like altering history to show what we really want to see. . either way he is just another holly wood weirdo that isn't connected to the real world. that actor was very decent but when quentin acts, you can tell its like on the same level as a high school or college

    6. Paul Dano est un excellent acteur, je l'ai vu dans " prisoners " ou il creve l’ecran et dans " 10 years a slave "
Cest pathétique de la part de Monsieur Tarentino de le critiquer.

    7. Eyyy, finally someone agrees with me. I felt his casting in TWBB was not a good fit at all. Honestly dont like any of his rolls. He clearly has a quiet personality and that just didnt translate well in the roll of Eli Sunday.

    8. It is a well established fact that Quentin Tarantino, the actor, not the director has long suffered from I.D.S.
Which really puts us all in an uncomfortable position.
I learned this from Mr. Show way back in the 1990s.
