Fate of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Revealed at ABC | E! News

The fate of Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show revealed. E-News has learned that the comedian has signed a one-year extension and the Jimmy Kimmel live show will continue through May 2027. The update comes amid a turbulent year for the talk show host. In November, Jimmy suffered the loss of his longtime band leader Cleto Escobedo III. In September, the talk show host was suspended after Jimmy addressed discourse about the alleged murderer of Charlie Kirk on his show. The comments led affiliates NextStar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group to announce that its ABC affiliates would preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live. ABC then pulled the show altogether for nearly a week. The Walt Disney Company later lifted the suspension, saying in a statement at the time it made the decision to suspend Jimmy to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It added, “We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy. And after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.” The news that Jimmy Kimmel Live will stay on the air until at least 2027 comes months after the 58-year-old declined to say whether or not he’d leave his late night post.
