Jason Bateman reveals rare details about his sibling relationship with Justine Bateman
We have lunch coming up uh next week. Um great. We’re we we respect one another. Um we don’t see each other a ton. Jason Baitman admits that he and his older sister Justine Baitman don’t see each other a ton. The actor made the rare family comment in a new cover story for Esquire, noting, however, that he sees that as a good thing. There isn’t the typical sort of like, well, we see each other every Thanksgiving or every Christmas and our kids are cousins. There isn’t that in a great way and and there’s a a way in which we live that is non-traditional and it’s very consistent with the way that we were brought up. The Ozark actor also shared that they spend time together because they want to, not just because they’re siblings. It’s a really healthy relationship that that that we’ve worked on. I’m really proud of us for, you know, being at the spot that that we are. Both Jason and Justine started their Hollywood careers as child actors. him on Little House on the Prairie when he was 11. Her on Family Ties when she was 16. Jason made similar comments about Justine, who’s now a filmmaker and producer, during his appearance on the WTF with Mark Maron podcast back in 2015. You’re not handcuffed because of the blood. But you do earn it. She’s about a mile from my house. No. I hope they don’t listen to this. Um, yeah. I could be a better uncle, brother, son. Jason is an uncle to Justine’s two children, Geonetta and Duke, whom she shares with her husband, financier Mark Fluent. Meanwhile, Justine is an aunt to Jason’s two daughters, Francesca and Maple, whom the actor shares with his wife, Amanda Anka. In September, Justine shut down fans who she claimed imagined conflict between her and her brother due to their political ideologies. Justine openly supported President Trump’s re-election in 2024, while Jason made headlines when he criticized Trump voters in June. Justine wrote on X at the time, “Anyone bringing up my brother to me for any other reason than to say you like his new upcoming show or any of his past work will be muted at best and blocked at worst.” Well, it sounds like the siblings are on good terms and just in time for the holiday season.
