Elizabeth Olsen & Miles Teller Discuss Living In A ‘Man-Free’ World
I don’t understand when we became so useless. I feel jet-lagged not rested and I have kinks in my shoulder that have been bothering me for 10 days. I wouldn’t want to have this brain in a child’s body. I think that would be horrible. She got so low. So good to see you though. Congratulations on this film cuz not only is it like super cute, but also breaks your heart when you think about the love of your life potentially not wanting to spend or choosing to spend the rest of their life with you. Stressful, right? I was like, I just didn’t think that going to the afterlife would be stressful, but here you are just reminding us that it just never ends. Even when you die, even when you die. But one thing I was like, wow, you do this so well. Is playing young old people like cuz obviously you’re in younger bodies, but you’re old. How did you channel your old souls? Just the fact that Joan and Larry have such a history. So, I think that was something um that we were conscious of, but we honestly just fell into this really I don’t know. Yeah. Comfortable banter and you spend that much time with somebody. It’s like you really there’s no bells and whistles. It’s just like you know everything about that person. Saw you doing squats though and I was still like gez even at my age I’m already Yeah, I know. And she got so low. She really did. In the film, John’s AC to you, Elizabeth, he describes you as smart, passionate, and decisive. So, if you were each other’s AC, how would you describe the other? Um, kind, wholesome, and playful. Uh, and Lizzy, I would say she’s mortifying to receive. Um, yes. Uh, elegant. Um, uh, also, uh, playful, ex deep. Well, exactly. Yeah. It never gets easier, does it? Hearing nice things, I think, from co-stars. And I’m sure it happens a lot to you guys, though, when you’re doing these drunk interviews, like so much. Oh, come on. I’m sure it does. If you were going to manifest yourself in the afterlife, what era of your life so far do you think you would you would be? because obviously it’s the best the time that you felt the happiest that you manifest yourself in the afterlife. I mean, I would like to be at some version of the body I’m in, but like not at this moment. Um, I feel jet-lagged and not not rested and I have kinks in my shoulder that have been bothering me for 10 days. Uh, but I would I I do feel very grateful um uh for the people in my life uh at this age and uh the relationships I’ve built. But I would just like to be really rested and I’d like to feel really healthy and energetic and uh my brain uh firing. I don’t think we ever feel rested now for the rest of our lives. I I do have moments I have moments where even I’m exhausted and I think everything’s functioning well. Like I you know what I mean? So like I feel like there are moments where even in pure exhaustion it’s all working. How about you mouse? It’s it’s very similar to what Lizzie said. Although I do think it would just be really fascinating. I I don’t have kids yet, but uh you know, my nieces and nephews and just seeing life through the eyes of a of a child. I wouldn’t want to have this brain in a child’s body. I think that would be horrible. But I I think that would just just a glimpse of of what that was like where everything was just new. That and you know what? Just before I went in to see this film, I’ I’d seen a real where someone was going around asking people, could you live in a world without men? Like asking women, could you live in a a world without men? And could you to the guys could you live in a world without uh men? And then I went to this film and I was like there’s a man free world. It had nothing to do with it was nothing to do with the film. It was really weird. Yeah. The man free world seems to be very popular and I don’t understand when we became so useless. I don’t know if it’s that but I was going to say could you Well, you don’t need them. Sounds like they don’t serve a purpose. You say that. Yeah. I haven’t got a boyfriend. I haven’t got a husband. I have great male friends in my life who add so much value that actually I don’t think I even in society often times doing the jobs that not a lot of people want to do. So you wouldn’t want to live in a man-ree world a woman free world. No I wouldn’t want to. No we need to coexist. I think any gender uh is it doesn’t matter. I think it’s about the person. That’s very true. Yeah that’s very true. I think there are good eggs and bad eggs and the whole spectrum. You don’t want to That’s Yes. You don’t want to eliminate an entire sex. No. But it was an option at least for some people. Were there any worlds that we didn’t get to see? There were quite a few worlds and I’m not sure what really our director if you’re ever able to ask him he had just he said when he was on the flight from London to uh Vancouver that he was just journaling and he had I mean so well some that weren’t weren’t allowed because they weren’t PC enough for the film. Sure. Yes. Yeah. He was really trying to push because this film’s PG-13, right? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Good. Yeah. Oh, I think so. I’m just agreeing with you. I have absolutely no idea. No idea. I’m old enough to see it, which is great. This is great. Congratulations. Lovely to see you guys. [Music]
