Idris Elba Shares Why He Wants to “Eventually” Quit Acting | E! News

Idris Elves looking forward to his next chapter in life. According to the Daily Mail, Idris shared at a Q&A at the Red Sea International Film Festival December 10th. I’m hoping that my fan base as an actor isn’t mad at me, but eventually I want to transfer to be a director fully. I’ve been acting for a long time. I love it still, but I think directing allows me to flex slightly different muscles and just be part of the set in a different way. And the 53-year-old is also considering a degree for a career outside Hollywood, noting there’s a possibility he would go to school to study human science, but specifically human science, not political science, because he thinks humans respond regardless of whether it’s politics or sports. He says, “It’s about humans.” The actor adds, “I’d like to maybe study that so I can be more effective when it comes to some of the philanthropy work I’ve been doing and some of the activism work. I don’t want to be a politician, but I think there’s something quite appealing about educating myself to step into those arenas with more experience of how to make change. [Music]

The “Boasty” rapper, who shares daughter Isan Elba, 22, with ex-wife Hanne Nørgaard and 10-year-old son Winston with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth, wants to avoid politics but knows knowledge is power.
