How 50 Cent, Netflix Got Sean “Diddy” Combs Docuseries Footage | E! News
The curtain is being pulled back on the Diddy docu series. How 50 Cent and Netflix obtained the behind-the-scenes footage of Shawn Diddy Combmes in Shawn Combmes the Reckoning has been a central question since the series premiered on the streaming platform December 2nd. Now Diddy’s personal videographer, Michael Oberlies, is speaking out, alleging that the footage was actually released by a freelancer who was hired to fill in for a few days. In a December 10th statement shared to Rolling Stone, Michael says, quote, “For over two years, we’ve been working on a project profiling Shawn Diddy Combmes. The footage in question was not released by me or anyone authorized to handle Shawn Combmes’s materials. It was by a third party who covered me for 3 days while I was out of state.” This incident had nothing to do with any fee dispute or contract issue. He continues, quote, “The actions of the parties involved reflect the lack of integrity every storyteller should uphold.” The footage in question includes clips of Diddy in his New York City hotel room days before his September 2024 arrest. Conversations with his legal team about how to navigate the case, and a scene in which he mingled with fans in Harlem. 50 Cent, Netflix, and the creative team involved in the docu series have long maintained the footage was obtained legally. For his part, Diddy, who is currently serving 50 months in prison, has slammed the Netflix project with a spokesperson for the rapper calling the series a quote shameful hit piece. E! News has previously reached out to reps for Diddy and 50 Cent for comment, but did not hear back. [Music]
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ personal videographer has made a claim about how 50 Cent and Netflix obtained the footage used in their docuseries, ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning.’ In a December 10 statement to Rolling Stone, Michael Oberlies—who had been working on a profile of “Diddy”— alleged the footage was released by a freelancer who was hired to fill in for him while he was out of town for a few days. Michael says in his statement, “For over two years we have been working on a project profiling Sean “Diddy” Combs. The footage in question was not released by me or anyone authorized to handle Sean Combs’ materials; it was by a third party who covered for me for three days while I was out of state. This incident had nothing to do with any fee dispute or contract issue.” “Diddy” is currently serving 50 months in prison after being convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. I'm I the only one who suspects that the judge giving Diddy 50 months was an homage to 50 Cent?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…
"THE RECKONING", INDEED!!
P Diddy got exposed he is tasting his karma finishing his medicine
I dont even like diddy but somehow i believe 50 got that stuff from the higher powers that be, that used an indirect way to get at diddy, since the knew 50 doesnt like p diddy. Maybe 50 also got paid some money under the table.
How ironic eh – the taste of sweet poetic justice. Not enough
I heard he didn’t get paid either
