Taylor Swift has revealed which music icon she turns to for their wisdom.
While appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night, the 35-year-old pop star revealed that she tries to ‘find throughlines in many people’s experiences.’
She went on to name Stevie Nicks, 77, as one of the most influential people in her life.
Swift told Colbert: ‘I think we can relate to each other even if our lives aren’t identical.’
The chart-topping singer then explained that she’s fortunate to be able to lean on people like the Fleetwood Mac star.
‘I have Stevie Nicks in my life in a way that affects me positively constantly. Being able to talk with her and have a phone call with her and hear what she’s been through… she paved the way for me and many other artists out there,’ she gushed.

Swift went on to say about the living legend: ‘I feel like she has lended her very magical, wonderful, wise approach.’
In 2024 Sabrina Carpenter heaped praise on the Eras music artist, revealing that she considers the pop star to be one of her ‘best, best friends.’
The 26-year-old Espresso hitmaker admitted that she loves spending time with pop music counterpart and learning from her.
She told Variety: ‘Taylor is a rock star! She’s just such a gangster with all of it.
‘No matter what people are saying, everything that I’ve ever seen her tackle, she’s done so with grace.’
Carpenter went on to address online speculation that she needed to ask Swift for her blessing to pose in nemesis Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS campaign last year.
‘The posts about me having to “ask for her permission” — no. She’s one of my best, best friends, and we grab dinner or text and catch up like you would with your best friend,’ she clarified.
She emphasized that she loves being able to lean on Swift for for career support and advice.

Much like Swift leans on seasoned musicians, peers like Sabrina Carpenter (pictured in September 2023) have also expressed relying on her for career support and advice
‘It’s so cool for me to get a perspective on this whole process from her and the community of artists that I feel I’m close to, to get advice from them on stuff that you can’t just ask the internet,’ the petite songstress noted.
‘We’re always playing each other our [music], and whenever I start to think, “Maybe I’ll get on Twitter and say something about this,” I’m always like, “Maybe I’ll write a song instead,”‘ she said.
Elsewhere in her Colbert appearance, Swift unequivocally stated she has no plans to retreat from the spotlight or slow down her career.
The superstar, who turns 36 this weekend, issued a straightforward response to the criticism that she makes too much music.
‘I think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity,’ Swift mused. ‘And there are also corners that are like, “Give someone else a turn! Can’t you just go away so we can talk about how good you were?”‘
She shrugged and quipped: ‘I don’t want to!’
