Rose Byrne on Finding Comedy in a Nervous Breakdown.
therapy can become a cliche with those sort of setups. You can see it from both perspectives of like the reality of these people trying to do their job and then that complete frustration from someone like Linda who can’t cope anymore and she can’t cope with their she can’t cope with any of these strategies to try to help and she’s having a nervous breakdown basically and that I found humor in that albeit dark humor but it was something I thought was dealt with in a very refreshing way but she’s the one at fault. They’re trying to do their best with her and she can’t say that. I guess I thought that was funny too. Then watch the back to back cuz I felt like I had to see it again. You did?
Rose Byrne joins Elvis Mitchell to explore the razor-thin line between comedy and collapse.
She reflects on playing a character who is out of strategies, out of patience, and barely holding it together and why the humor hidden in that breakdown feels more honest than anything else.
A candid conversation about vulnerability, frustration, and using humor as survival.
