Director Rob Reiner, Wife Michele Singer Reiner Dead in Apparent Homicide

    Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle are found dead in an apparent homicide. A source close to Reiner has confirmed to NBC News that Reiner and his wife were found dead in their home on December 14th, apparently of stab wounds. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a death investigation just before 400 p.m. local time on December 14th. Once inside the home, officers discovered two deedants. In a statement to Variety, Rob and Michelle’s family says, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michelle and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.” E-News has reached out to Rob’s rep and authorities for comment and has yet to hear back. While Rob, the son of the late actors Carl Reiner and Estelle Reiner, is known for directing The Princess Bride and Standby Me, Rob got his big break as a director with 1984’s This is Spinal Tap, kicking off a decadesl long career behind the camera. Amid his growing career, Rob was in a relationship with fellow filmmaker Penny Marshall. The two were married from 1971 to 1981 and share a daughter Tracy Reiner. Eight years later, Rob tied the knot with Michelle and welcomed kids Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner, and Romy Reiner.

    Director Rob Reiner and wife Michele Singer Reiner, who met during production of ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14.
