Michelle Branch recently discovered she was almost too close to one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ infamous “freak offs” for comfort.
The “Everywhere” singer, 42, took to her Instagram Story on December 15 to share a screencap of a text message with her former Wreckers bandmate, Jessica Harp.
“Not me watching the Diddy docuseries and realizing that one of the freak offs absolutely happened this night,” Branch wrote along with a picture of her and Harp at an afterparty for the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, via People.

Fortunately, neither of the women stuck around long enough to witness anything untoward.

“I don’t remember why we left but so glad our night was smoking weed and eating tacos with Owen Wilson instead,” Branch added in the text thread.
The Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which was released earlier this year and produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, details the music mogul’s rise to fame all the way through his 2024 indictment on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The freak offs were allegedly multi-day sex parties in which he’s been accused of using his power to force or coerce women into participating.
Combs is currently serving 50 months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of prostitution-related charges.
