Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may live thousands of miles away from Buckingham Palace, but they keep their royal titles close to the heart.

Last week, the parents of two announced that they have renamed their charitable organization, Archewell Foundation, to Archewell Philanthropies — and made sure to sign off on the endeavor using their titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“There is a star-role reference to their royal titles [in their statement] which, given speculation about them being removed, reads like a very emphatic clinging or laying claim to,” communications expert Judi James told The Mirror in an article published Sunday, December 21.

Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44 — who share son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4 — also highlighted their children’s involvement in Archewell Philanthropies when they made the announcement.

“This next chapter allows Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to broaden their global philanthropic efforts as a family, with meaningful reach and maximum impact, grounded in the same values, partnerships, and their commitment to show up and do good,” they said on December 19.

“As a ‘mission statement’ their ‘show up, do good’ is about as unspecific and immeasurable as possible, allowing everyone to put their own translation on it if they are so inclined,” James said of Harry and Meghan’s statement.

“They seem to like it though as it’s on repeat, perhaps informing the fans that when the Sussexes are visible they should assume to be doing good, somewhat in the style of superheroes,” she continued.

James suggested that the Spare author and former Suits star’s definition of “broaden their global philanthropic efforts as a family” could even relate back to their family in London.

“Of course it is possible to imagine the word ‘family’ to apply in a wider way here, being a very veiled reference or hint of a return to the mothership in the UK,” she said. “Having emphasised their titles, the idea of ‘broadening’ could be read as a sliver of a hint about any terms that might work. But it is just a sliver, rather than any open overture.”
