Britney Spears’ latest social media post has fans scratching their heads.

The pop star, 44, shared a selfie of herself via Instagram on Monday, December 29, wearing a white dress with black polka dots. It featured ruffled cap sleeves, a fitted bodice, and a flared skirt that gave it a playful shape. She finished the look with black knee-high boots, which added contrast.

In the picture, a man could be seen helping Spears hold the phone up in front of the mirror so she could snap the photo.

“This is the dress I wore for my birthday…Minnie Mouse was my inspiration…” the “Toxic” singer captioned the image. “You guys have to check out the new 3D cartoon of Minnie and her Boutique with Daisy… it’s brilliant… It’s like I turned 5 again and I watch it everyday now!!!!”

However, some people were concerned with the childlike nature of the post.

“I’m convinced she thinks she was born again after her conservatorship and she’s slowly going through being a ‘child’ again,” one person wrote on Reddit.

Another added, “Her mom stated she played with baby dolls a lot as a kid so that would explain the one she had among other drug reasons. But Britney even wrote in her book that she was born again as a baby after the [conservatorship].”

“Minnie’s bow boutique is like 2-3 min an episode. wtf is she even saying. It’s like a toddler level cartoon,” a third person commented.

Spears’ post is just the latest in a string of photos and videos she has shared on her social media. While the Crossroads star keeps her comments disabled on Instagram, the opinions of her fans can still be found on other platforms online.

Her behavior has remained a point of public scrutiny ever since her long-running conservatorship ended in November 2021. The legal arrangement, which began in 2008, placed the Grammy winner’s life and finances under court control for more than 13 years and was overseen primarily by her father, Jamie Spears.

After years of fan activism and court hearings, the conservatorship was officially terminated, allowing the pop star to regain control over her personal and professional decisions.
