The Traitors viewers have “confirmed” who they think the Secret Traitor is after noticing a hidden hack. The iconic game of deception and betrayal returned to BBC One on Thursday for an exciting fourth series- this time with a major rule change. A total of 22 fresh contestants descended on the infamous Scottish castle in a bid to win up to £120,000.

Hugo, Stephen and Rachel were selected as the three Traitors but viewers were baffled when Claudia introduced a new rule. Viewers watched as Claudia held a red cloak and said directly to the camera: “I can now reveal you have a special role, you are my Secret Traitor.”

She later explained: “As always, I’m going to pick my Traitors, but I’m going to do something else. I’m also going to pick a Secret Traitor, nobody will know who that is, not the Traitors and not even you. It’s naughty isn’t it.”

The new rule change has viewers even more invested in the game. They are now convinced they have worked out which player is hiding the biggest secret.

Friday’s episode saw Netty leave the castle as she was the first to be murdered by the Traitors. It also came to the first round table of the competition, when a mutual vote meant that Judy was banished.

Meanwhile, some fans were taking a closer look at each player’s handwriting as they held up their board with “Judy” written on.

Eagle-eyed viewers paid attention to their writing, linking it to the Secret Traitor’s list of names which was earlier displayed on-screen.

Taking to social media after the roundtable, one fan said: “Jade is the Secret Traitor! Based solely on how she writes her J’s! Did I do it, have I figured it out?”

A second said: “Jade’s handwriting on the J is so so similar to the Secret Traitor, I’m saying it’s her.” A third also said: “The way I’m trying to work out everyone’s handwriting.”

A fourth said: “I pray someone is cross referencing these slates and their writing with the Secret Traitor’s writing. However if I was the secret traitor I’d definitely be using difference handwriting for the shortlist.”

Despite making their predictions clear, viewers will have to keep tuning in to each episode to find out who the Secret Traitor is.

The Traitors airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
