The Princess of Wales admitted to a “notoriously bad” habit that later inspired a string of Christmas gifts.
It has emerged that mum-of-three Kate has a forgetful habit where she keeps losing her mobile phone. It came to light in a new interview with I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out Of Here winner and podcaster, Giovanna Fletcher.
Back in 2020, Kate memorably appeared on Giovanna’s popular Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, where she opened up in one of her most personal interviews to date about mum guilt and other aspects of parenting as she highlighted her important work with the Early Years.

It has emerged that Kate is always losing her mobile phone
And speaking to The Times, Giovanna revealed: “Kate told me that she was notoriously bad at keeping an eye on her phone. She always loses her phone. All of her Christmas presents that year were related to her keeping track of her phone…It was all about her not losing her phone.”
However, it seems that keeping an eye on her mobile phone may not be a huge priority for the princess, as she has recently spoken out about the “epidemic of disconnection” created by smartphones and other gadgets and urged society to “invest in the relationships you have with each other”.
Kate aired her concerns about the problems posed by modern technology at the expense of family life in an essay written in collaboration with Professor Robert Waldinger, director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development. Focusing on good connections with family and friends was the key to a healthy and happy life, said the princess, who took the lead in the article, and helping children develop “strong social and emotional skills” would equip them to maintain positive relationships for decades.

She said: “While new technology has many benefits, we must also acknowledge that it plays a complex and often troubling role in this epidemic of disconnection. While digital devices promise to keep us connected, they frequently do the opposite.
“Our smartphones, tablets, and computers have become sources of constant distraction, fragmenting our focus and preventing us from giving others the undivided attention that relationships require. We sit together in the same room while our minds are scattered across dozens of apps, notifications, and feeds. We’re physically present but mentally absent, unable to fully engage with the people right in front of us.”
Meanwhile, last year, Prince William revealed that none of their three children have their own mobile phone – but admitted it had become a tense issue with 12-year-old Prince George. He told Brazilian TV while visiting Rio de Janeiro for his Earthshot Prize: ““Our children don’t have phones. I think when George moves on to secondary school, then maybe he might have a phone that has no internet access.
“And to be honest, it’s getting to the point where it’s becoming a little bit of a like tense issue. But I think he understands why, we communicate why we don’t think it’s right. And again, I think it’s the internet access I have a problem with. I think children can access too much stuff they don’t need to see online, and so having a phone and text message, the old sort of brick phone as they call them, I think that’s fine.”
