An iconic entertainer’s cause of death was recently revealed, just weeks after the star died.

    French actress, singer and model Brigitte Bardot died Dec. 28 at the age of 91. Her death came two months after she was rushed to a hospital near her home in France for what was an unspecified illness at the time.

    Bernard d’Ormale, Bardot’s husband, told French magazine Paris Match that Bardot died at her home after undergoing two cancer surgeries and experiencing severe back pain.

    The revelation was made Wednesday, just before Bardot’s funeral was held in Saint-Tropez.

    “I never left her side. I watched over her, supported by nurses who came discreetly every day,” d’Ormale said, per a the report which was translated by PEOPLE. “A sense of peace and tranquility settled over her face. And she became incredibly beautiful again, just like in her youth. You wouldn’t have believed she was 91.”

    Bardot’s October hospitalization was the second medical emergency she dealt with in the past few years. The former actress was hospitalized for respiratory issues in 2023.

    Bardot became famous in the ‘50s and ‘60s for starring in movies such as “…And God Created Woman” (1956), “The Truth” (1960), “Love on a Pillow” (1962) and “Contempt” (1963).

    The French star had been recognized as one of the most beautiful entertainers in the world during her mid 1900’s peak.
