David Harbour has dropped out of an upcoming movie he was filming with Olivia Wilde titled Behemoth!

The movie was among a number of forthcoming projects Harbour has in the works, including a role in Avengers: Doomsday and a sequel to his Christmas-themed action movie Violent Night

Harbour just wrapped his long-running role in Stranger Things when the hit Netflix series aired its finale on Dec. 31

David Harbour has exited an upcoming movie he was set to star in with Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde, seemingly after he had already filmed some scenes for the project.

Reps for Searchlight Pictures, the studio studio behind an upcoming drama titled Behemoth!, confirmed with PEOPLE on Wednesday, Jan. 7, that Harbour, 50, has stepped back from his role in the movie. Variety reported earlier on Tuesday, Jan. 6 that multiple sources familiar with the project said the actor decided to step away from Behemoth! to rest after promoting the final season of Stranger Things over the last two months.

Representatives for Harbour did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

According to Variety, Harbour’s role in the movie has been recast, though it’s not clear yet who will replace Harbour in the film. A logline for Behemoth! states that the movie centers around “a musician from a family of musicians who returns to Los Angeles,” and stands as “a love letter to the music of the movies and the people who make it.”

On December 10, Harbour and Wilde were seen filming scenes for the film in Los Angeles.

Behemoth! is written and directed by Tony Gilroy, whom Star Wars fans know for his Disney+ series Andor and for writing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In the past, Gilroy directed movies like Michael Clayton and The Bourne Legacy; he also wrote the first three movies in Matt Damon’s Bourne action series.

Deadline first reported that Harbour had joined Behemoth!’s cast back in October. At the time, the outlet noted that writer-director Gilroy, 69, said the movie follows a cellist. While details regarding Harbour’s role in the movie are unclear, he was photographed filming scenes with Wilde, 41, in Los Angeles back on Dec. 10.

Harbour notably did not attend an event celebrating Stranger Things’ final season in New York City on Dec. 18; a spokesperson for the Paley Museum, where the event was held, told PEOPLE at the time that Harbour could not attend “due to a scheduling conflict.”

Harbour has spoken openly about his experiences with his mental health and bipolar disorder diagnosis in his 20s in the past. Outside of his long-running role as Jim Hopper on Stranger Things, he most recently appeared in the movies A Working Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry Thunderbolts*, where he reprised his role as the former Soviet superhero Alexei Shostakovich / Red Guardian. He is expected to reprise that role again in Avengers: Doomsday, as well as the upcoming Violent Night 2; both movies release in December.
