He captured my reaction to this series perfectly. I'm Asexual, so the sex stuff didn't do much for me at all. I kept going, "Is that all there is to this story? Ho-hum." Then Kip and Scott's story reeled me in, then Ep 4, which I have to say is my LEAST favorite ep of the season 1, then 5 and 6… finally got me and I did begin to care about these two. But it took the last two eps for me to really understand where they were coming from. Especially 5 during the stairwell phone call scene. I got to see how both care about each other so much, then Shane getting injured and Ilya's reaction. So soon after his father's death, and the #1 concern for him was if he was going to lose Shane now too. His confession of fear to Shane in the hospital was beautifully done. Three words delivered with such heartfelt emotion. I was drawn in.
