Bruno Mars is cooking up something new.
The 40-year-old R&B star took to social media Monday to reveal that he had finished his latest studio album. The news comes over four years after the release of his last full project, a joint album with Anderson .Paak under their soul group named Silk Sonic.
“My album is done,” Mars wrote in a post to X Jan 5. Mars, who has been a reliable radio hitmaker since his debut album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” in 2010, offered no additional details, like title, genre or release date.
The new album titled “The Romantic” will drop on Feb. 27, 2026, Mars confirmed on X, teasing a new single dropping Friday, Jan. 9. The project is already available for preorder.
While the singer and record producer has continued to enjoy success in recent years, his largest hits have been singles – often duets with other notable stars. His 2024 track with Lady Gaga, “Die With A Smile,” was Spotify’s most listened to song globally for 2025 and earned the pair a Grammy nod.
The song, a slow and mellodic ballad, was a callback to his early career, when Mars was cast as a regular Romeo, serenading fans with tracks like “When I Was Your Man” and “Just the Way You Are.”
Mars also teamed up with K-pop star Rose for 2024’s “APT.” lending legitimacy to both their crossover appeal and with Sexyy Red for 2025’s “Fat Juicy & Wet.” The latter track, a raunchy club anthem (which also featured Lady Gaga and Rose in the music video), leaned more into the brash persona showcased on 2016’s “24K Magic.”
Which will be the dominant sound of his new album remains to be seen, however. Perhaps Mars’ newest project will be a portmanteau of it all – the ’70s swing of Silk Sonic, the sweetness of his signature balladeering and the sass of his mid-2010s projects.
