The Traitors is well into it’s fourth series and viewers have been hooked watching the faithfuls try and work out who are the traitors amongst them. And some fans reckon they have spotted a ‘hidden’ connection between retired chief inspector Amanda and another contestant and it’s not that Reece is her ‘secret’ son.

The latest series of the game, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, saw 22 contestants enter Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, all vying to get their hand on a prize pot of up to £120,000. And, like in previous series, some members of the cast have connections in the outside world.

Banished Judy is mum to Roxy, who is still in the game at the time of writing. Then viewers found out that Ross, who was banished at a tense round table in last night’s (Wednesday 7 January) episode is in a relationship with Ellie. And the first murdered contestant, Netty, from near Glasgow was shown to have also known Ross, a connection that seemed to hasten his departure from the hit BBC show.

There has been mumurings on social media groups that Amanda is in fact sweet shop worker Reece’s mother. But on Wednesday night’s episode, Maz revealed he had been in the police force, a revelation which drove fans wild with another speculation, reports Wales Online.

Amanda had already shared with viewers that she’s a retired detective, and that she was hoping to use her snooping skills to sniff out Traitors. Maz has been billed as a civil servant, but has now shared that he used to be on the force too.

“I am a retired police officer,” he said as he discussed the twists and turns of the game. “Pressure, you know, I’ve dealt with the majority of my life. What can they possibly throw at me that would even equate to what I faced in the police?”

But after Maz’s comments, several took to X, formerly Twitter, to suggest it was actually him that she may be connected to.

One asked: “Does Maz know Amanda if he was in the police?”

Another wondered: “Could Maz have worked with Amanda? Both previously in the police force.” Another sleuth said: “So that theory of everyone being connected might be true – Maz and Amanda? Colleagues?”

Someone else posted: “New hidden connection theory – Maz and Amanda worked together or in the same force.”

“I’m now convinced Maz and Amanda have worked together… these links are everywhere I swear this series!” remarked another fan while another exclaimed: “Maz revealed that he’s an ex-police officer and we know Amanda is a former police detective… do they know each other too?!”

“MAZ IS A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER??? Is there anyone in this series who ISN’T in law enforcement?” quipped another viewer presumably referring to banished barrister and traitor Hugo and crime writer and former barrister, Harriet.
