There was one person in particular Stephen Graham wanted to celebrate with following the success of his show, Adolescence – his wife Hannah Walters.

The couple, who have been married for 17 years, danced the night away at the Golden Globes Netflix afterparty, where they were joined by their co-stars.

Stephen was clearly in the mood to party after winning Best Male Actor in a TV Drama for his stellar role in the hard-hitting Netflix drama.

Adolescence won four prizes across the board, meaning it was the most successful of all of the television shows up for nomination on Sunday night.

Stephen’s co-star Erin Doherty was named Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama and Owen Cooper, 16, won Best Supporting Actor in a TV drama.

Adolescence also triumphed in the highest category for which it was eligible – Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for TV.

Stephen, 52, sporting a blue shirt and dark trousers, got his groove on with Hannah, 51, at the party, which was hosted at fine dining restaurant, Spago, in Beverly Hills.

Hannah, who makes a cameo as teacher Mrs Bailey in the series, looked glamorous on the dance floor in a metallic dress and wore her curled hair in an updo.

When he accepted his Best Actor gong, Stephen sweetly credited his ongoing awards season success to Hannah and their two children.

In the show, Stephen and his co-star Christine Tremarco are parents forced to deal with the devastating aftermath of their teenage son’s arrest for the murder of a female classmate in the limited series, which they also co-executive produced.

And an emotional Stephen credited his wife for turning his life around when they exchanged vows in June 2008 while accepting his award.

Stephen described her as ‘one of the most best producers ever and a woman I’m very, very lucky to be married to.’

He added: ‘I’ve said it before, but you saved my life. You saved my life.

‘And to my two beautiful children, Grace and Alfie, I love you to the moon and back forever.’

‘My dad, my pops, my hero, and I would just like to dedicate this particular award to my mom and all my friends and family, you all know exactly who you are. Without you, none of this is possible.’

On the night, Owen continued his record-breaking run of awards success following his wins at both the Critics Choice Awards and the Emmys.

Owen, 16, left his proud dad Andy teary as he scooped his Supporting Actor gong.

In the midst of studying for his GCSEs, the young star has been gracing red carpets to accept a string of honours for his role in the hard-hitting Netflix drama.

Adolescence was tipped as a favourite at this year’s awards, and their success began early in the ceremony, as Owen became the youngest actor ever to receive the honour.

It also made Owen the second-youngest male Globe winner of all time, behind The Champ star Ricky Schroder, who at age nine won in 1980 for new star of the year.

At September’s Emmy’s Owen won Best Supporting Actor for his breathtaking performance as Jamie Miller in the four-part Netflix show. It was filmed when he was just 14.

Stephen was presented with his acting prize by Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom he shared a warm embrace as he took the stage to deliver his acceptance speech.

He paid tribute to fellow nominees Jacob Elordi (The Narrow Road to the Deep North), Paul Giamatti (Black Mirror), Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story), Jude Law (Black Rabbit) and Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me).

Supporting actress Erin Doherty also took home gold, dedicating her victory in part to therapists and earning a round of applause from the audience for doing so.

‘I didn’t wanna assume, but I feel like we all know, go to therapists,’ she said. ‘I just think life can be tough, mental health is everything, so thank you therapists, and it was an honour to play one. Thank you so much.’

Adolescence also triumphed in the highest category for which it was eligible – Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for TV.

A fleet of cast and behind-the-scenes figures from the show took the stage for the acceptance speech, which was given by Jack Thorne, who co-wrote the show with Stephen Graham.

‘This is extraordinary. I wrote something ’cause I’m a writer and I can’t improvise,’ said Thorne, before issuing a string of thanks to people involved with the show, including Graham, who he called ‘the Larry to my Barry. You fill a whole in my soul and I love you.’

Jack then told the audience that ‘some people think our show is about how you should be frightened of young people. It’s not. It’s about the filth and the debris we have laid in their path.’

He added that it was ‘impossible to highlight anyone else in our cast and crew but our young company,’ before hailing the underage actors on the series – Owen Cooper, Amari Bacchus, Amélie Pease and Kaine Davis.

‘You are proof the world can be better,’ he said.

Over the course of awards season, Owen has earned an Astra TV Award for Best Supporting Actor, alongside honours at the Gotham TV Awards, Edinburgh TV Festival and Rose d’Or Awards.
