Zoe Saldaña on Tuesday night revealed that she is now the highest-grossing actor of all time after her leading role in “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
According to Variety, Saldaña has had roles in the three highest-grossing films ever — 2009’s “Avatar,” its sequel “The Way of Wayer,” and 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”
Saldaña eclipsed Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson for the No. 1 spot after the third “Avatar” movie, which has earned $1.23 billion.
NBC News has reached out to Saldaña, Jackson and Johansson for comment.

Saldaña posted a thank-you on Instagram on Tuesday following the news.
“I just want to express my sincerest gratitude for the extraordinary journey that has led me to become the highest-grossing film actor of all time today,” Saldaña said, adding that the achievement was made possible by the “incredible franchises and the collaborators that I have been fortunate to be a part of.”
“To every director who placed their trust in me, thank you,” Saldaña continued, calling out JJ Abrams, Joe and Anthony Russo, and James Gunn.
She also gave a special thanks to James Cameron “for believing in my potential for seeing something in me that I have not always seen in myself, for challenging me to always rise to the occasion.”
Saldaña also thanked her fans around the world.
“Your unwavering support, passion, and loyalty are the true foundation of this milestone,” she said. “None of this exists without you showing up time and time again with open hearts and enthusiasm.”
“This accomplishment belongs to all of us, and I’m deeply grateful and profoundly humbled, and may the next record breaker be another woman,” Saldaña said at the end of the video.
