Polling is in progress across Maharashtra for elections to 29 municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The counting of votes is scheduled for January 16. 2. Twinkle Khanna
Following actor Akshay Kumar’s early visit to the polling booth, his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, also arrived on Thursday morning to cast her vote. She was seen at the Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan polling station in Mumbai during the ongoing Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. After voting, Twinkle spoke to reporters, stressing the importance of taking part in elections. She noted that voting empowers citizens, gives them a voice, and makes them feel connected to the democratic system.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal cast his vote on Thursday along with his wife at a polling station in Mumbai’s Malabar Hills during the Maharashtra Local Body 2026 elections.
