Ben Affleck might be an Oscar winner, but that doesn’t mean his kids find him cool at work. While promoting his new Netflix film “The Rip,” the actor shared a hilarious truth about his children’s lack of interest in his own movie sets. Apparently, they have much higher standards for their time. While they often dodge their father’s invitations to watch him work, they jumped at the chance to visit his best friend, Matt Damon. As such, Affleck’s kids—Violet (20), Fin (17), and Samuel (13)—are much more impressed by “Uncle Matt’s” projects.

Ben Affleck’s kids couldn’t care less about dad’s set but were ‘psyched’ to visit Matt Damon’s

While on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Ben Affleck admitted that his children usually choose homework over Hollywood when he is the one in the director’s chair. “My kids never want to come to the set when I’m working,” he quipped. He often tells them they are doing something exciting, but they simply reply, “No, I got school.” They would literally rather stay in class and avoid detention than watch their dad film a scene.

However, the mood changed when Matt Damon began filming the epic saga “The Odyssey” with director Christopher Nolan. Affleck revealed that his middle child, Fin, is actually a huge fan of the original Greek epics. Because she was already reading “The Iliad” and “The Odyssey,” the kids were “really psyched” to visit that specific set.

Affleck expressed deep gratitude to Nolan for the rare invitation. Damon even noted that Affleck and his kids were the only guests allowed on the set during the entire six-month shoot. The kids got to witness “incredible” in-camera movie magic that felt like the epic films of the past. It seems that for the Affleck children, the only thing better than school is a world-class production as long as their dad isn’t the boss.
