King Charles III may be quietly signalling a step toward reconciliation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by offering them a place to stay during their upcoming visit to the United Kingdom, according to a new report. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel to Birmingham, England, in July for a pre-Invictus Games event, marking their first joint U.K. appearance in nearly four years.

A source told the Daily Mail (via The Express) that if the recent easing of tensions within the royal family continues, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could stay at a royal residence during their visit. The insider said, “There’s a good chance that they will stay at a royal residence during a U.K. stay that includes Invictus events if the current thaw in family relations continues.”

Highgrove House would allow the couple to remain out of the public eye while fulfilling their Invictus Games commitments. King Charles III reportedly does not plan to meet with the Sussexes during the trip due to prior commitments in Scotland.

Despite the apparent gesture, communication between the king and his younger son remains limited. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield recently told Fox News Digital that the family continues to view Harry as a risk when it comes to private conversations, citing concerns that personal discussions could reach the media. “The royal family views him as untrustworthy and a liability, largely due to concerns that private conversations will quickly find their way into the press,” as per the commentator.

On the other hand, royal expert Tom Sykes has suggested in a Substack post that Markle is expected to accompany Harry to the U.K., potentially along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Sykes noted, “They love to do stuff as a family whenever they can, and when they do things philanthropically, they often take the kids along privately.”

Harry has returned to Britain alone several times since relocating to California, most recently in September 2025, when he shared a brief meeting with his father. Markle, meanwhile, last visited the U.K. in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
