It’s safe to say that there is an excitement in the air among Marvel Studios fans. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe always generates buzz, its ups and downs throughout the Multiverse Saga have overshadowed that evergreen ability it has to draw audiences in. And yet, 2026 could be the year that it regains that ability, as it’s the year that the MCU will finally unveil Avengers: Doomsday.
But before we reach the “Endgame” of the Multiverse Saga, there are a number of intriguing titles on the horizon that we’ve been looking forward to for some time now: Wonder Man, The Punisher Special Presentation, second seasons for Daredevil: Born Again, X-Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and the highly-anticipated film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And then, there is the most unique of them all: VisionQuest.
Now, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Animation, and Television Brad Winderbaum has opened up a bit more about it – and it sounds amazing.
VisionQuest is a story about fatherhood
Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum recently appeared on The Official Marvel Podcast to preview what’s to come from Marvel Television and Animation in 2026, and he was able to share some details about VisionQuest, which undoubtedly remains the most mysterious of Marvel’s upcoming TV fare. The show, a spinoff / sequel to 2021’s WandaVision and 2024’s Agatha All Along, it brings Paul Bettany back to reprise his long-standing MCU role as The Vision, and it sounds like it will be the character’s most personal story yet.
Winderbaum reveals that VisionQuest is a story about fatherhood, particularly how it explores three generations of grandfathers, fathers, and sons. He says that it will pose the question of “Can a man who had an abusive father be a good father himself?”, adding:
“It gets very emotional at times and it’s exciting. You see Vision kicking ass and you get all that Marvel fun and adventure, [but] it’s all done with a backdrop of real human stakes and emotion.”
Vision was, in a way, created by Ultron and he was ultimately responsible for bringing the villain down in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but James Spader – who voiced the villainous robot in the 2015 film – is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Disney Plus show, so it sounds like we’re in for an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. This is also interesting as it once again confirms that at least one of Vision’s own sons will appear in the show.

Ruaridh Mollica has been cast in the role of Tucker, but it has since been confirmed that this is actually set to be Tommy Maximoff, a.k.a. Speed – one of the twin sons of Vision and Wanda Maximoff. The character and his brother, Billy, were created by Wanda as part of the events of WandaVision, when her grief over the original Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War led to her magic taking over an entire town, plunging herself and all of the residents of Westview in a sitcom-like Hex.
Although it was thought that the magical siblings died when Wanda took the Hex down, Billy’s affinity for magic allowed his soul to survive long enough to find a new body. In Agatha All Along – with the help of Agatha Harkness – he was able to place Tommy’s soul into a new body too, allowing him another chance at life as well. He and Agatha then set out to find him.
VisionQuest carries on the themes and legacy of its predecessors
The themes of Parenthood has set the WandaVision Trilogy apart from any other story in the MCU, and Winderbaum confirms that this remains an important throughline in these stories:
“Agatha, in many ways, plays with themes of motherhood in a way that VisionQuest plays with themes of fatherhood, and the entire trilogy is focused, in many ways, on parenthood.”
WandaVision had Wanda’s desire for happiness lead to her and Vision becoming parents. Agatha All Along saw Agatha form an unlikely bond with Wanda’s son Billy as the pair walked the Witches’ Road, reminding her of her own relationship with her son Nicholas Scratch. And now VisionQuest will see Vision attempting to figure out where he fits into the world after coming back from the dead and having his memories restored – a journey that will lead him back to at least one of his sons.

There are reports that Joe Locke will reprise his role as Billy in the series, with rumors that Kathryn Hahn could return as Agatha too. What’s more is that Elizabeth Olsen has been rumored to make a cameo appearance as Wanda Maximoff, too, potentially bringing the Scarlet Witch back from the apparent dead. And with Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, that could make VisionQuest the most important title of them all as we head towards the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.
We’re ready to watch the next chapter in this iconic trilogy, and we can’t wait to see what it has in store for us all!
VisionQuest arrives on Disney Plus in fall 2026.
