The Masked Singer favourite Gargoyle has got plenty of fans thinking they know who is hiding behind the costume

The Masked Singer viewers are convinced they have unveiled Gargoyle’s real identity.
The popular ITV show was back on screens on Saturday evening (January 17) for a special Spooktacular show. As usual, host Joel Dommett was joined by judges Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.
They were also joined by special guest Ben Shephard as the concealed famous faces once again took to the stage and gave a number of clues hinting at their true identity.
So far, Welsh presenter and The One Show host Alex Jones has been unmasked as Disc Jockey, while last week it was revealed that John Lydon was behind Yak.

But during the latest instalment, it was Gargoyle that got plenty of fans talking. So far in the competition, Gargoyle’s clues have included the year 1976 and a mysterious photo of Sally Dynevor from Coronation Street.
And in Saturday’s episode (January 17) they were back on stage to perform Bring Me to Life by Evanescence. In the clue package, Gargoyle called themselves “pretty animated” leading judges to think they have appeared in an animated movie.
Gargoyle was also seen styling a mannequins hair in the VT which could hint they “change their hair a lot,” according to Maya. The character then said they were a “one-gargoyle-band,” causing Mo to suspect she was or is currently in a band.

The panel put forward names like Joan Jett, Cheryl Baker, Debbie McGee and Alesha Dixon. But fans reckon Gargoyle is actually Toyah Wilcox. On X, one person said: “Gargoyle is Toyah.” Another added: “Gargoyle – Toyah Wilcox.” A third chimed in: “Gargoyle is Toyah Wilcox.”
Toyah is best known for her singing career after shooting to fame in the late ‘70s after fronting the eponymous band Toyah. As well as boasting eight top 40 singles, she Toyah appeared on Strictly in 2024 and was partnered with Neil Jones.

Meanwhile, last week, Yak was unmasked as John Lydon. Speaking about doing the show, he said: “For me, I hope the fun comes across. Rather than going up there and doing sing along and guessing who I am straight away, I thought, show the other side of me. An absolute funstar. I’m the court jester by nature. It’s just the way it is.
Asked why he did the show, he said: “I’m in the middle of recording an album and a little bit of extra cash will go a long way towards that budget. We’re independent.”
