Eamonn Holmes has bought a luxury new-build property for weekend retreats with his younger lover Katie Alexander, following his split from his former partner of 27 years, Ruth Langsford. The plush homes are set in a secluded hamlet in Holywood, five miles out from the TV and radio star’s native Belfast.
It will offer the new couple a base for their trips to Northern Ireland to see Eamonn’s family and an escape for weekend getaways together. The 66-year-old former This Morning host has reportedly laid down a deposit on one of the homes, which cost anywhere from £700,000 to £900,000.

A source told the Sun : “Eamonn loves going back to Northern Ireland visiting family and he’s been after a new place there for a while. It will be the perfect place to build a home with Katie, with no memories of anyone else. They can use it for weekend retreats.”
As Eamonn’s health problems have progressed since 2021, he has been forced to use a walking stick and wheelchair to help with his mobility. The source added that the spot is “perfect” as the properties can be “custom-built” to make them accessible.
The new hideaway may have come at a good time for Eamonn, following 65-year-old Ruth’s announcement that her new memoir, Feeling Fabulous will detail the “highs and lows” of their relationship. The couple split in 2024 after almost three decades together, with Eamonn wasting no time before swiftly moving on with his friend, relationship therapist Katie Alexander, 43.
The former couple have remained tight-lipped about their separation, but Ruth is likely to be opening up about everything in her book, which is due out on February 26. She shared the news on Instagram on Friday, telling fans she will tell about “the good and the not so good”.

She wrote: “NOT LONG NOW… Can’t believe that 2026 is the year I publish my first book! I’m very excited but also a little nervous…. These are stories about my life, the ups and the downs, the good and the not so good but everything that has made me the woman I am today.”
The Loose Women star continued: “I share the experiences that have shaped me and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Publication day is 26th February but you can pre order a copy now (and a limited number of signed copies are available too). Click the link in my bio or check out my stories to get your copy. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it x”.
Ruth has been single since the end of her marriage with Eamonn and she recently revealed she has been having therapy. Speaking to woman&home mag, she explained: “I started counselling.
“My counsellor has probably seen us on TV, but she doesn’t know either of us so doesn’t get involved and doesn’t judge. She just listens and says, ‘Have you thought about this?’ or ‘Why did you feel like that?'” She added: “I think I know myself very well, so it has just been calming. It makes me question how I’m feeling.”
