Rob Reiner Detailed Dad Carl Reiner’s Final Moments in Posthumous Doc | E! News

Rob Reiner shared insight into dad Carl Reiner’s special bond with Mel Brooks in the upcoming HBO documentary ‘Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!,’ recorded before the ‘When Harry Met Sally’ director’s death. “Mel was there when my dad died,” Rob recalled of his dad’s 2020 passing, per People. “He just collapsed in the bathroom, and Mel came back and realized, ‘Uh oh, something’s wrong.’” In the immediate months following Carl’s death, Rob said Mel continued a tradition he’d shared with his late friend and spent almost every evening with Rob and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. Rob and Michelle were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14. Their son Nick Reiner has been charged with their murders.
