Prince Harry Testifies During His Lawsuit At London’s High Court
The disgraced prince has made another return to his home country, but not with the sole intention of making things right with his father, brother, and other members of the royal family. He went to testify in person against Associated Newspapers, the publisher that owns famous news and tabloid publications, The Daily Mail and The Mail.
Harry initially filed a lawsuit against the publisher towards the end of 2022, two years after his and the As Ever founder’s move from the UK to California, and their departure from royal duties. The prince is claiming that the publications used privacy-invading and unethical tactics to gain information about him and his family, which he revealed subsequently caused him and his family emotional distress. He’s not the only celebrity to take action against the publisher, but given the popularity surrounding him and his wife, it’s one of the most attention-grabbing situations.
In court today, the Spare author opened up more about the psychological toll the stories and publications have taken on him and Meghan, even reportedly choking up and beginning to cry.
“By standing up here and taking a stand against them, this has continued to come after me,” he said, as reported by People. “And they have made my wife’s life an absolute misery, my Lord. Through the course of this litigation, it’s only got worse, not better. It’s fundamentally wrong to put all of us through all of this again. What’s required is an apology and some accountability. It’s a horrible experience.”
