Gabe Lopez, a beloved singer/songwriter known for his work on “Rupaul’s Drag Race,” has died.
He was 31.
“Dear friends, family and fans of Gabe Lopez,” a statement on his Instagram read. “I am Connie Howard, Gabe’s mom, with a message from his family. On Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2026 our loving, kind, talented, hilarious Gabe lost his brief but intense battle with lymphoma. We the family are heartbroken to lose our deeply loved Gabe and cannot imagine life without his joy and laughter, his generous love and sincere kindness.
“In the coming days we will share a post about Gabe and what he meant to us,” the statement continued. “As we make arrangements to celebrate his life and love we will share those with you.”
Lopez released six albums during his career. The first, “This Is About You,” dropped in 2006, and the last, “God Bless The Queens,” was released in 2018.
His IMDB credits him for working as a composer on “Rupaul’s Drag Race,” for 13 episodes as well as “The Other Two,” and “Belinda Carlisle: Sun.” His other credits include music producer for “Monster High 2,” and as a music co-arranger on “The Bitch Who Stole Christmas.”
He also worked on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” as a music producer and music editor for eight episodes.
His most recent credit came as music editor and music producer on the “Las Culturistas Culture Awards” in 2025.
Lopez’s final social media post on Instagram came back on Dec. 20.
“Family. Friends. Love. Hope,” he wrote. “Keep steady the light. Keep steady the way.”
