It would be shocking for a star not to show up to the Sundance premiere of their own movie at the famed film fest… perhaps unless that star is Courtney Love.
Scribe Allen Salkin was on the scene when the Hole rocker ghosted her own premiere.

He wrote to us on Tuesday night in a mountain dispatch to Hollywood:
Love was expected by many fans to show up to the Sundance premiere of her new documentary, “Antiheroine.” But when festival director Eugene Hernandez came out to introduce the film late Tuesday night in Park City, he quickly informed about 1,000 people in attendance that Love would not be at the screening.
But there was more quiet shock at this news than voluble groans, since Love, as the documentary shows, is consistently inconsistent.
Courtney Love was a no-show at her own Sundance premiere. Edward Lovelace
That said, it was clear the producers and marketers of “Antiheroine” did not want to explain Love’s absence
The documentary… had been made with Love’s full cooperation and input. During the Q& A after the film, no audience questions were taken despite the usual practice of having a festival official ask filmmakers a few, and then allowing the crowd to chime in.
Salkin also told P6H: “When the lights came up, I caught up with one of the publicists and asked, ‘Why isn’t Courtney here?’ The publicist answered, ‘Because she’s not here.’ ‘Is that it?’ I asked. ‘Yes that’s it,’” the flack told the journo in a non-explanation rivaling Pee-Wee Herman’s customary, “I know you are, but what am I?”
Despite the Hole rocker’s absence, the many Love fans in the audience expressed their affection when they were invited by Hernandez to appear in a video he said he’d send her, including a lot of, ‘We love you Courtneys!’ shouted from the crowd, and fingers lifted and curled into the shape of hearts.
It was said to be the last premiere of a film ever to be shown at Eccles Theatre during Sundance before the fest relocates to Boulder.
Thanks Allen! Rock on!
