“The Celebrity Scammers”: New izzy Film Exposes the Billion-Dollar Business of Fake Celebrities

Cedric Schild and the izzy team make scammers sing. This time, literally. Available now for all subscribers on Blick+.

After more than 40 years, the iconic band ABBA is returning to the stage. Thanks to willing investors, their comeback is set to happen in Switzerland, of all places. The contracts are signed, the date is set, and a stadium is reserved. Everything in this story is true. But nothing is as it seems.

The new 50-minute film from izzy, the investigative digital brand of Ringier Media Switzerland, is titled “The Celebrity Scammers.” It is now available exclusively for Blick+ subscribers. Izzy reveals how the celebrity scamming scheme works and how the perpetrators are lured into a trap using their own tricks.

The film tells real stories, including a particularly absurd one from Davos: two older men claim to have secured an exclusive concert deal with the iconic Swedish band ABBA. Contracts are signed, travel is planned, and advance payments are transferred. In the end, thousands of francs are invested.

Following “The Grandparent Scammers” (2024) and “How to Cheat a Casino” (2025), the izzy crew’s new project takes them to Nigeria, Sweden, and across Switzerland. In “The Celebrity Scammers,” global stars become bait, scammers become the scammed, and major social media platforms find themselves in a position that raises uncomfortable questions: What is still real, and when can we still trust our own eyes and ears?
