Prince Harry and Prince William have been estranged for nearly six years, but a royal expert says a reunion between the brothers may still be possible.
Duncan Larcombe told The Mirror that the close bond Harry and William once shared could be rebuilt. He added that time and circumstance may play a role in healing the brothers’ relationship.
“They used to bounce off each other. They were absolutely great together,” Larcombe explained. “They didn’t come across as rivals; they came across as two brothers that enjoyed a lot of banter.”
The expert continued, “William is still incredibly angry at his brother. Harry’s actions and words would have caused huge, almost irreparable damage to a normal family. The fact it is happening within the royal family adds to the magnitude of how badly Harry has behaved in William’s eyes.”

The brothers did not reunite when Harry was in the United Kingdom to share a witness statement against Associated Newspapers Limited at London’s High Court on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The prince joins Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley, and Sadie Frost in the suit, claiming the company unlawfully obtained private information about them.
Harry named his brother and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, in his witness statement, reported PEOPLE Magazine. The couple were two people the prince was in contact with during the time period of his claim, which the outlet reports was from 1996 through 2014.
“HRH The Prince of Wales, my brother William,” Harry said in the statement, as published by PEOPLE. “Due to his position, the press have always been very interested in him. As brothers, we naturally discussed personal aspects of our lives as we trusted each other with the highly sensitive information we shared about our private, family, and professional lives.”
The brothers’ rift dates back to 2020, when Harry and Meghan Markle left their positions as senior working royals. Their relationship has remained distant since that time.
