Queen Elizabeth II was known for her dry sense of humour and one
of the biggest comedians of the last 50 years found himself at the
receiving end of one of her one liners when he tried a new joke out
    on her.

Jimmy Tarbuck, who was once one of the most high profile stars
on TV, has been speaking about his admiration for
the Royal Family with the Daily Telegraph. And he told the
paper about his one attempt to try new material on the late
    Queen.

As he was presented to her at the end of one Royal Variety Show,
he says Elizabeth II asked him how many times he’d been part of the
show which is held every year to raise money for the Royal Variety
    Club.

The comedian says he replied ”four more than you, ma’am” to
which Queen Elizabeth II immediately replied ”it certainly seemed
    like it tonight.”

Jimmy Tarbuck, 85, says his showbiz pals never let him forget
that moment of a royal reigning over him.

However, he has nothing but praise for the late monarch and
tells the paper ”she was a lovely lady. She was much loved.”

In fact, he is such a fan that the Daily Telegraph reveals he
has a photo of the late Queen in his downstairs loo alongside
another of Diana, Princess of Wales.

And he speaks about his love of the monarchy in his
autobiography, Laughter is the Best Medicine, in which he also
mentions King Charles, who makes his list of ”delightful
    fellas”.

Queen Elizabeth II was known for her quick wit and sharp sense
of humour. Among her most famous retorts was one to an American
tourist she met while walking near Balmoral. When asked if she had
ever met the Queen, she said no before pointing to her security
officer and saying ”but he has.”
