    Catherine O’Hara, the Emmy‑ and Golden Globe‑winning actress and comedian, has died at 71, her manager confirmed to E! News. Born in Toronto in 1954, O’Hara first rose to fame as a founding member of the Canadian sketch troupe SCTV. She became a beloved comedic presence in iconic films like ‘Beetlejuice,’ ‘Home Alone’ and its sequel, and numerous mockumentaries directed by Christopher Guest, including ‘Waiting for Guffman,’ ‘Best in Show,’ and ‘A Mighty Wind.’ O’Hara later captured global acclaim for her role as Moira Rose in ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ winning an Emmy in 2020 and a Golden Globe in 2021. Most recently, she earned a Golden Globe nomination in early 2026 for her performance as Patty Leigh in Apple TV+’s ‘The Studio,’ and appeared in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.’ She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and their two sons.
