Maya Jama has broken her silence following a distressing incident in which her and her boyfriend Reuben Dias’s home was burgled.

The pair were left devastated after a “gang” raided their £4million mansion. The home Maya shares with Manchester City star Ruben Dias is located in the so-called Cheshire Golden Triangle – with many football stars calling the area home.

The former Omaze home was raided with expensive items such as jewellery, electronics and clothes taken by criminals, according to the Sun. It is understood that the house was empty due to Maya being in South Africa to film the latest on Love Island All Stars and Dias was playing at Manchester City’s clash with Galatasaray.

The TV and radio presenter took to her Instagram story to address the situation, emphasising both her gratitude for support and her desire for privacy. She wrote: “Don’t even like saying anything at all when things happen because then it just becomes another news article, but thank you for all your kind messages, we are ok.”

Ruben returned to his home at 11pm to discover the place had been ransacked so he called 999 to report the emergency.

A source told The Sun: “They are devastated. The house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them. Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded. They love the house because it is tucked away down a very quiet street with no passing traffic.”

The couple’s 6,300 sq ft house has landscaped gardens, a full indoor leisure suite including swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and gym.

It has hi-tech security including a sophisticated zoned alarm system, CCTV and electric gates. It is also said that Maya and Ruben employ a security detail that help monitor the property’s safety with random spot checks.

The village of Alderley Edge is part of Cheshire’s Golden Triangle and counts dozens of Premier League stars among its residents.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11.10pm on Wednesday 28 January, police received reports of a burglary at an address in Alderley Edge. Officers attended and found entry had been made to the property and a number of items had been stolen. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”

The Mirror has contacted Maya and Ruben’s representative for comment.
