Singer Kelly Clarkson has announced the end of her self-titled TV programme after seven seasons.

The popstar, 43, has presented NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show since 2019, winning several accolades over the years for her work. The media personality, though, has now decided to step down in order to prioritise her two children.

In her poignant statement, Kelly said she feels it is “necessary and right” to enter the “next chapter” of her life, having presented the daytime programme for six years. During that period, it has won several Daytime Emmy Awards, including the gong for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series in 2023.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York. There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons,” Kelly wrote in her statement.

“I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”

The father of Kelly’s two children, Brandon Blackstock, died in August last year following a “brave and courageous” three-year battle with melanoma. Speaking in an interview last month, Kelly said: “There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit.”

And her move to step away from The Kelly Clarkson Show will allow the TV personality to spend more time with her kids; 11-year-old River and nine-year-old Remington, known as Remy. Her statement about the end of the programme continues: “This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show will continue to air until the autumn of this year with a slate of special guest hosts. Kelly, though, told her fans she will still release music and appear on a judge as The Voice, a role she has had on and off for several years.

The Mr Know It All singer continued in her statement: “For now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”
