Prabhas is once again showing his support for Santosh Shoban as the young hero gears up for the release of Couple Friendly on February 14. The Valentine’s Day release is an important one for Santosh, and having the backing of Prabhas and UV Creations adds strong confidence around the project.
The bonding between Prabhas and Santosh Shoban goes back a long way. Santosh is the son of late director Shoban, who directed Prabhas’ first blockbuster Varsham. Since then, Prabhas has always extended his encouragement to Santosh’s career. Several of Santosh’s earlier films were made under banners associated with UV Creations, showing the continued support from the Darling camp.
Now, Couple Friendly joins that list. The film is a youthful romantic drama that talks about live in relationships, but in a middle class setup rather than a rich urban background. Director Ashwin Chandrasekhar appears to have treated the concept in a simple and relatable way, which is reflected in the trailer.
For Santosh Shoban, this film is crucial. Though he has done a fair number of films, a big commercial success is still pending. With Prabhas’ backing and a Valentine’s Day release date, expectations are naturally higher this time.
The film will release in Telugu and Tamil. Manasa Varanasi plays the female lead, while Rajeev Kanakala and Goparaju Ramana appear in key roles. Music by Aditya Ravindran has created positive buzz.
With limited competition at the box office and strong support from Prabhas’ banner, Couple Friendly now carries good momentum. The big question is whether this support and timing will finally give Santosh Shoban the hit he has been waiting for.
