“Cape Fear” will make its global debut February 5 with a two-episode premiere on Apple TV, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31.
The news comes with the first images of stars Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Amy Adams (Arrival), and Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) in the psychological horror-thriller.
Hailing from Universal Content Productions and Amblin Television, the 10-episode limited series is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg,
It’s created and executive produced by showrunner Nick Antosca (“Channel Zero,” “Brand New Cherry Flavor”). Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Passengers) directed the pilot and serves as executive producer.
A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.
The show is based on both John D. MacDonald‘s 1957 novel The Executioners, which was adapted into 1962’s Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, and Scorsese’s 1991 remake with Robert De Niro.
CCH Pounder (“The Shield”), Joe Anders (1917), Lily Collias (Good One), Jamie Hector (“The Wire”), Malia Pyles (“Pretty Little Liars”), and Anna Baryshnikov (Love Lies Bleeding) round out the ensemble.
Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Margarita Levieva (“Daredevil: Born Again”), and Patrick Fischler (“Twin Peaks”) will recur.
