Dave Coulier, the self-described “poster boy for cancer,” says he’s beaten back the disease for a second time. The 66-year-old Full House alum told Good Morning America on Wednesday that a cancer at the base of his tongue, p16 squamous carcinoma, is now in remission. Coulier described the past few years, a period in which he also beat Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, as “a roller coaster ride.” The latest cancer was discovered during a PET scan he received while being monitored for lymphoma just months after he declared himself a cancer survivor. “That PET scan and early detection … saved my life,” he said.

Coulier underwent robotic surgery and 35 radiation treatments, which he described as physically and emotionally tough. He leaned on his wife, Melissa Bring, and longtime friend John Stamos, who flew to Michigan. “He wore a bald cap, and when he came around the corner, dressed like that, I dropped to the floor laughing,” Coulier said, per People. He said Stamos then came down with COVID while visiting so the pair ended up “like two fifth-graders sitting in the hallway, talking to each other with walkie-talkies.”
