FRANKENMUTH, Mich. — Seven local celebrities, including Mid-Michigan Now’s Kyle Makin, showcased their archery skills at Bronner’s annual Hot Shot Local Media Celebrity Archery Contest.
The event, which has been hosted by the Bronner family for 17 years, awarded $2,000 for first place, $750 for second, and $500 for all other participants to donate to their chosen charities.
Makin, last year’s defending champion, finished second this year, securing a $750 donation for Midland’s Open Door homeless shelter.
Executive Director of the shelter, Saralyn Temple expressed gratitude for the donation.
“Our men’s shelter, we have been full probably since Thanksgiving. There’s been turnover. Of course, it changes every day, but this doesn’t just help us give beds and food. It helps us give hope and be able to see people walk forward and solve the problems that they have and hopefully not come back again,” said Temple.
Makin is already looking forward to next year’s competition.
