If you thought you were seeing double while watching AAA on Saturday night (Feb. 7, 2026), don’t worry. You’re not going insane. El Grande Americano attacked El Grande Americano.

Even though it’s tough to tell them apart, the lore goes that Chad Gable allegedly donned El Grande Americano mask. When Gable suffered an injury, a new man appeared under the mask, rumored to be Ludwig Kaiser. This Americano grew to great heights as a fan favorite in Mexico. It was only a matter of time before the other Americano returned, which happened at the Royal Rumble. Now, this story carries over into AAA.

El Grande Americano was booked to compete in a Rey de Reyes four-way qualifier. In a backstage scene, Dominik Mysterio had a chat with the masked man. Dom wanted to know if Americano is an enemy for being friendly to his deadbeat father. Americano explained that he respects legends like Rey Mysterio. He also respects Dom and has his back. Dominik pointed a flaw to that logic. If Americano has his back, then why is he in the Rey de Reyes tournament with a prize to win a shot at the AAA Mega Championship. After Dom walked away, boom! El Grande Americano attacked El Grande Americano. Americano (Gable) handcuffed Americano (Kaiser) to the post and stole his spot in the Rey de Reyes match. It is unclear if Dominik orchestrated any of this.

Americano (Gable) took home the victory as well. After Fenix was taken down by a rana off the apron from Dragon Lee, Americano ran wild with his loaded mask to headbutt Lee. The next victim was headbutting Octagon Jr. out of the air. Americano landed a diving headbutt to pin Octagon for the win. Americano didn’t have much time to celebrate. Americano (Kaiser) stormed into the ring, and Americano (Gable) retreated up the ramp.
