The latest revelations from the Epstein files have unearthed more details about the relationship between Sarah Ferguson and the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. While it has been known for many years that Andrew Moutbatten-Windsor had a friendship with Epstein, that wasn’t the case for Fergie, who called Epstein a “supreme friend” in emails discovered last year.

Since Andrew and Sarah were stripped of their titles and kicked out of the Royal Lodge, Andrew has relocated to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, leaving Fergie to fend for herself for the first time in several years.

Recent documents claim that she had been accepting money from the convicted sex offender, in her decacdes of financial struggles. Now, Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, believes that without a helping hand from the firm, Fergie will have to come to terms with the decisions she’s made that has landed her in the financial mess.

Ms Bond told the Mirror: “Sarah Ferguson needs to learn one of life’s basic lessons: you have to cut your cloth to suit your purse.

“I cannot understand how she has so consistently got herself into terrible debt, leading her to cultivate unsavoury friendships. Money, and her insatiable greed for it, has been at the root of her problems.”

Following emails between Fergie and Epstein being bought to light in 2011, she was dropped as a patron from multiple charities, while having other deals cut. Now, Ms Bond says “she will have to find a new way to support herself”, as a result of the endorsements and publishing deals being over.

Making note that Andrew and Sarah “are both wealthy”, Ms Bond added: “I don’t believe for a minute that Sarah herself is skint. I’m sure she’ll find somewhere to live in comfort. Perhaps a prolonged visit to her sister in Australia would help clear her head.”

The royal expert also says she has “no sympathy for her” and that Fergie “sucked up” to Epstein even after being convicted. According to the emails, Sarah even referred to the convicted sex offender as “the brother she had always wished for”.

The latest batch of files also claims that Fergie exposed her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, to Epstein’s world when they were both still young women.

Ms Bond claims that the recent allegations could so no way back into the public’s favour.

When the emails were released last year, a spokesperson for Sarah quickly issued a statement saying the 2011 emails were sent “in the context of advice the duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats”, as she seemed to express remorse for her association with the sex offender.

Despite this, Jennie believes that Fergie’s resurgence to public life is still a long while away, as many struggle to grapple with the former Duchess’ involvement with such an unsavoury figure like Epstein.

Ms Bond said: “For all her sins, and there have been many – cavorting topless in the South of France with her lover, caught red-handed trying to sell access to her ex-husband for half a million pounds – I’ve always thought that Fergie, as she came to be known, was a good mother.

“And I hesitate before criticising another woman’s parenting. But who in their right mind would take their daughters, then aged 19 and 20, to lunch in Miami with a convicted paedophile? What planet is Ferguson on?”
