As debate swirls around this year’s Super Bowlhalftime show, Bad Bunny has found an unlikely voice urging people to cool it—celebrity chef and TV personality Guy Fieri.
Speaking ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, Fieri dismissed the backlash surrounding Bad Bunny’s upcoming halftime performance and pushed back on the growing culture-war framing around the show.
“I don’t like the divisiveness,” Fieri told the San Francisco Chronicle while attending Super Bowl week events in the Bay Area. “I think everyone needs to settle down.”

Criticism of Bad Bunny’s headlining slot has come largely from conservative commentators who have taken issue with the global superstar’s Spanish-language music and his public support for LGBTQ+ and immigration rights. In response, conservative group Turning Point USA has promoted a competing event dubbed the “All-American Halftime Show,” headlined by Kid Rock.
Fieri, a Bay Area native and longtime Super Bowl fixture, avoided taking political sides, instead emphasizing the magnitude of the moment.
“This is the biggest sports moment in history,” he said. “This is the 60th Super Bowl. Let’s celebrate that. Be who you are, wherever you’re from, whatever you love—just enjoy it.”

Known for largely steering clear of partisan politics, Fieri has occasionally found himself pulled into the conversation, particularly after a widely circulated photo showed him greeting the president at a UFC event in 2023. Still, his focus this week has remained on the game itself—and the fans.
“A great halftime show is all that I want,” Fieri said. “And I do think we’ll have an entertaining halftime show.”
Fieri hosted one of Super Bowl weekend’s largest off-site events, Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate, drawing tens of thousands of fans ahead of kickoff. Whether viewers tune in for the football, the food, or the music, his message was simple: enjoy the show.
