Hoda Kotb returns to NBC’s ‘Today’ to fill in for Savannah Guthrie as the search for her 84-year-old mom, Nancy, enters week two. Hoda appears with Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones and Carson Daly to ask for grace as the team navigates the ‘uncharted territory’ of reporting on a friend’s family crisis. Hoda and Savannah sat side-by-side at ‘Today’ for seven years, starting in 2018. Hoda left her full-time position at the morning show in 2025.

Family of boy who drowned sues Houston Racquet Club
The family of a 4-year-old boy who drowned this summer at the Houston Racquet Club filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the club and four staff members Thursday, saying the facility failed to provide proper adult supervision and adequately trained life guards.
According to the suit, there were 30 to 40 youngsters and teen counselors in the pool with two 15-year-old life guards on duty the morning John died.
The girl was watching over the main pool, while the boy was watching over a slide, Marrs said. The teen counselors and life guards, Marrs said, were socializing instead of watching over the children.
The suit claims John and his brother were at their second day of camp when John's body was discovered floating in the pool. Workers didn't know his name or have any form of identification on him, the suit claims.
Officials had also wrongly told the boy's mother her it was her eldest son who had died, according to the lawsuit.
"She went to identify his body at the hospital," Marrs said. "She was in total morbid shock."
This is heartbreaking and most def they deserve grace. I can not imagine.
