Marc Anthony is standing by his friends David and Victoria Beckham, amid the drama with their son Brooklyn.
“I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family,” Anthony told The Hollywood Reporter in a story published Monday. “They’re a wonderful, wonderful family. I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz. I’m really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out — but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.”

Brooklyn, the 26-year-old son of the soccer star and Spice Girl-designer, described a family rift in a series of social media posts last month. His statement addressed widespread rumors of a split in the family in the wake of his marriage to Nicola Peltz, whom he married in 2022.
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” he alleged.
Brooklyn also claimed that Victoria, who has had her own fashion label since 2008, had agreed to make the bride’s dress but cancelled “in the eleventh hour,” leaving them scrambling.

He also alleged that his famous parents had “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name.” When he didn’t do it, he said, “They have never treated me the same since.”
An additional grievance in his post was that his mother had “hijacked my first dance with my wife,” which was supposed to be a “romantic dance,” introduced by Anthony.
Brooklyn said, instead, Victoria “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” and that “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
A source told PEOPLE in May 2025 that, at the moment in question, the Beckhams’ eldest child was already onstage when Anthony announced, “The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up … Victoria Beckham!”
Another source added that “it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop,” while another source said that the dance was inappropriate and that Nicola had left crying.
In his post, Brooklyn said he and his wife later “wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
David and Victoria Beckham have been friends with Anthony for decades.
In January, when Anthony announced on social media that he is expecting his eighth child, with wife Nadia Ferreira, David noted that he was “soooooo excited.”
