Carl XVI Gustaf: Completed two and a half years’ military service, with a special emphasis on naval training.

In the summer of 1966, Prince Carl Gustaf began his military training in the Royal Swedish Navy and participated in a voyage aboard HMS Älvsnabben (during the winter of 1966-67). Among other activities, he also had the opportunity to train with the Army and Air Force. After his studies at the Karlberg Military Academy (Carl Gustaf completed two and a half years of military training, with a special emphasis on naval training), he passed his Naval Officer Examination in 1968 and received the rank of sub-lieutenant in all three branches of the armed forces.
